Crisis After Crisis

Three years in, parish ministry was very challenging. Life seemed to be one crisis after another, not just in the world but also in the families of our church.
The bridge was inspired by II Corinthians 1:3 where the apostle Paul calls God “the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort.”

Crisis After Crisis

Crisis after crisis, it’s a crazy life we live
Troubles, conflicts, breakdowns,
Haven’t got much left to give
Anger, clamour, noise, ringing telephone
Anybody have some peace to pass around
Crisis after crisis, an exhausting way to live

What an exhausting life we live. I’m tired
What an exhausting life we live. I’m tired

Walking on the sea making storms obey: “Be still!”
Demons, sickness, hopelessness and grief
Cast out at will
Troubles, conflicts, breakdowns
Carried to the cross
Satan overthrown at a staggering cost
Crisis after crisis, a victorious life he lived

What a victorious life he lived. What a life!
What a victorious life he lived. What a life!

Lives going up in smoke.
Oh Lord, please help us cope
Father of mercies, please strengthen us.
Comfort us

Suicide on the rise.
Heartbreak, despairing cries
God of all comfort, please strengthen us.
Comfort us

Neglect, abuse and hate.
Families separate
Jesus we need you
Jesus we need you
Jesus we need you
Please strengthen us, comfort us

Crisis after crisis
Lord, we need some peace
Troubles, conflicts, breakdowns
We’re begging for relief
Anger, clamour, noise
Lord, we crave some peace
Hopelessness and grief
Praying for relief
