I've Got My Days

I spent an evening playing some old jazz and blues numbers with a friend. That enjoyable night combined with a particularly bad day gave birth to this song.

I've Got My Days

I’ve got my days when I struggle out of bed
I’ve got my days when dark night thoughts crowd my head
I’ve got my moments when I see red
I’ve got my days. I’ve got my days

Yeah, I’ve got my days when everything looks black
Yeah, I’ve got my days when life seems so stacked (against me)
I’ve got my moments when I can’t keep track
I’ve got my days. I’ve got my days

Maybe you wouldn’t have guessed from the way I look
Goes to show you can’t read everyone like a wide open book
Don’t we all have our dark pride, our raw and ugly side
Times when we slide the way of love aside

I’ve got my days when I leap right to my feet
I’ve got my days when life tastes delightfully sweet
I’ve got my stretches when breathing’s a treat
I’ve got my days. I’ve got my days

Maybe you wouldn’t have guessed from the way I look
Goes to show you can’t read everyone like a wide open book
Don’t we all have our ups and downs, our lows and quick rebounds
Times when we drag along, then soar above the ground
