Loving Arms

The sight of a parent holding a child close at a baptism or dedication, and the sound of parents promising to be loving parents who will introduce their child to Jesus, prompted this song about God’s presence and peace in the face of a fearful future.
The opening reference to “parents’ loving arms” and the closing line about “God’s loving arms” brings the song full circle.

Loving Arms

Infant in your parents’ loving arms
Melting every heart with all your charms
Precious as jade, fearfully made
Miracle of innocence

You don’t have to live in fear
Knowing that the Lord is near
He welcomes each request
Offers rest
Promises to be there

We have many hopes and dreams, it’s true
But our deepest heart’s desire for you
Sees you in love with God above
And the One who died for you

You don’t have to live in fear
Knowing that the Lord is near
He welcomes each request
Offers rest
Promises to be there

We have many hopes and dreams, it’s true
But our deepest heart’s desire for you
Sees you in love with God above
And the One who died for you

Amen and Yes
Child you’re so blessed
Cradled in God’s loving arms
