I Know That God Loves Us All

This song was the result of another collaborative effort by another faith nurturing class at Jubilee Fellowship in St. Catharine’s, Ontario. It highlights God’s creativity, provision and protection. The thought that we make God cry, expressed in the refrain and the bridge, moves the song emotionally from the head to the heart.
Is there a more poignant image in scripture than that of Jesus weeping over Jerusalem?
It’s not hard to imagine that our hurtful words and war-like behaviour bring tears to God’s eyes, too.

I Know That God Loves Us All

I know that God loves us all
Older, younger, big and small
Even with our faults

Despite the devil’s waltz

God wants to help us find our way

I know God made everything
Winter, summer, fall and spring
Human, animal
Each microscopic cell
Each law on which our lives are based

Loving us enough to die
Stretched between the earth and sky
Leaving us to wonder why
Thinking of us makes God cry

I know God meets every need
Shelter, clothing, water, seed
Standing by us always
Blessing us with new days
Making sure that we’re embraced

I know God forgives our sins
In his Son new life begins
We’re in debt to him

I’ll love him to the end
Within his arms forever safe

Loving us enough to die
Stretched between the earth and sky
Leaving us to wonder why
Thinking of us makes God cry

We make God cry
We make God cry
We make God cry
We make God cry

Loving us enough to die
Stretched between the earth and sky
Leaving us to wonder why
Thinking of us makes God cry
Thinking of us makes God cry
