You Know Me Well

Based on Psalm 139, this song is a reassuring reminder of God’s presence no matter where we are, no matter what we’re facing. From a musical standpoint, I especially like the way the melody and the lyrics descend together in the second line of the refrain. People tend to sing along on this one, especially those familiar with my first album, Malice Gives Way (1984).

You Know Me Well

You know my thoughts long before I speak
You know my ways where I’m strong where I’m weak
You know me well

Where can I go? Where can I flee?
Up in the heavens or down in the sea?
You are there, everywhere
Hmm, you are there

You knew my days long before I was born
You saw my frame long before I was formed
You know me well

Where can I go? Where can I flee?
Up in the heavens or down in the sea?
You are there, everywhere
Hmm, you are there

Precious to me is your every thought
Test me and try me and search me Oh God
And know me well

Where can I go? Where can I flee?
Up in the heavens or down in the sea?
You are there, everywhere
Hmm, you are there

Where can I go? Where can I flee?
Up in the heavens or down in the sea?
You are there, everywhere
Hmm, you are there
Hmm, you are there
Hmm, you are there
