Handful of Cherries

A counting song, written when we were still young parents. I find a way to sing it whenever there’s a child in the audience.

Handful of Cherries

You take a handful of cherries
One, two, three and four
And you eat them all
You chew them with your teeth
You swallow them please
It’s getting kinda funny
‘Cause they’re going to your tummy
Here, have some more

You take a handful of cherries
Five, six, seven and eight
And you eat them all
You chew them …

You take a handful of cherries
Nine, ten, eleven and twelve
And you eat them all
You chew them …

You take a handful of cherries
Thirteen, fourteen, fifteen and sixteen
And you eat them all
You chew them ..

You take a handful of cherries
Seventeen, eighteen, nineteen and twenty
And you eat them all
You chew them …

Don’t take any more
Because you’ll be sore
It’s time to cross the floor
And play outdoors
