Serenity

A lullaby for nights when our kids fear the dark for any number of reasons. It was around the time that we bought a large oil painting of a girl sitting in a meadow, painted by Carol Delcozzo, a Fanshawe College student. She called it “Serenity.”

Serenity

Wrap your arms around me, hold me tight
Close your heavy, tired eyes. It’s night
Time to rest after a day
Filled with laughter, love and play
Close your sleepy eyes, goodnight

If a sad dream comes, you come to me
We will ask for sweet serenity
Then the darkness of the night
Will be softened by moonlight
And we’ll drift away in sleep
We will drift away in sleep
