Here I Am

Every human being should be able to come home to a healing hug, especially on particularly bad days when “it’s all too much.” Thankfully, I have a best friend who has never hesitated to hold me close and remind me that everything will be alright.
I wish everyone someone – a parent, a grandparent, a sibling, a lover, a partner, a friend, a confidante – who has the healing touch to ease away the pain that comes with living.

Here I Am

Here I am, I need to be held
I guess it shows. Come hold me close
Help me edge away from this day

Here I am, I’m wounded, I’ve lost
My confidence. Come be a friend to me

Because it’s all too much
You have the healing touch
Easing away the pain that comes with living

Here I am, no longer so sure
Of anything. Come here and bring
Sanity and something to say

Here I am with lines on my face
That tell the tale
Come let us sail away

Because it’s all too much
You have the healing touch
Easing away the pain that comes with living

And I won’t let you go
Until you let me know
That it will be alright again

I always know where I stand with you
I always know
You always know what I need from you
You always know

When it’s been just too much
And only your healing touch
Can ease away the pain that comes with living

So I won’t let you go
Until you let me know
That it will be alright again
