I Can't Imagine

When a brother-in-law was diagnosed with leukemia and a nephew-in-law was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma, I could not help but think about the very real prospect of my sister and my niece facing life alone. The thought broke my heart. Thankfully, both men are cancer survivors. But their experiences got me thinking about the precious time I have left with the love of my life until that dreaded day when we will have to say farewell.

I Can't Imagine

I can’t imagine striking out on my own love, alone love
One pair of eyes can’t see what both of us see, love
You are the Eve to my lonely Adam. You are the one for me
If you leave I’ll be left to wonder how to live without you

I pray to God that life won’t take you away love, today love
It paralyzes me to picture you gone, love
You are the sky to my lost horizon, the rhythm of my rhyme
Take my hand, squeeze it tight, no tighter. Let me know that you’re mine

Farewells dead ahead but I don’t want to say goodbye
Too much still to be said. I don’t want to see you cry

I never thought to number all of my days, love. Amazed love
To think of all those hours and minutes now gone, love
We have today but I want tomorrow and the next day too
Let the promise of love forever be a promise come true

Farewells dead ahead but I don’t want to say goodbye
Too much still to be said. I don’t want to see you cry

Farewells dead ahead but I don’t want to say goodbye
Too much still to be said. I don’t want to see you cry
