Crowded Cage

This song was written while we were exploring calls from several churches and a campus ministry. Eventually, in 2003, we decided to leave Jubilee Fellowship in St. Catharines and move to Hope Fellowship in Courtice. It’s a song about the right time to end one chapter and start a new chapter in the book that you’re writing with your life.

Crowded Cage

I feel the need to move on
It’s time to slip away
Before the good will wears out
Before the cloth gets frayed
‘Cause that would rob us of the good times
That’s what makes me say
“If I linger longer
I’ll overstay”

I hope your heart will miss me
My heart will miss you too
But that will never happen
While I’m still here with you
Things forgiven, things forgotten
Shouldn’t be reviewed
If I wait they’ll surface
Debts long overdue

Time to start a new chapter
Time to turn a new page
Before the freedom of friendship
Becomes a crowded cage

So I’m going to move on
I’m gonna slip away
While the good will warms us
While we’re still OK
God has promised he’ll be with us
So I won’t delay
An inner voice is prompting
Voice I must obey

Time to start a new chapter
Time to turn a new page
Before the freedom of friendship
Becomes a crowded cage

Time to start a new chapter
Time to turn a new page
Before the freedom of friendship
Becomes a crowded cage
Becomes a crowded cage
Don’t want a crowded cage
