1970s

Newly wed in 1970 to Marja, for the first six years of our marriage we lived in Edmonton, New Westminster and Grand Rapids, Michigan where we paid tuition and housing with the money we made in construction and nursing jobs during summers in Canada.
In 1976 I interned as a youth pastor in a Sarnia church, and in the fall of 1977 we moved to Orillia where I served as lead pastor for four years. I still have the two blue notebooks – one with covers of popular hits and the other full of original songs – from which I would sing for friends during this decade.
Most of my early lyrics make me cringe and I’ve forgotten most of the melodies.
But three songs survived as “keepers.” Here they are.
